Connect Slack

With Slack connected, the agent can summarize conversations, follow channels and search your history, and post in your name with your approval.

  1. Go to Customize (in the sidebar) and open Connectors.
  2. On Discover, find Slack and click the + on its card.
  3. The Slack screen opens. Authorize with your company account.
  4. Back in nouter, Slack shows up under Yours. It works in any conversation.

When you connect, you pick the scope under Resources to enable:

  • Slack Workspace: read channels, direct messages, members and search across the whole connected workspace, and post, reply, react and start direct messages there. Your account’s workspace is picked for you; you only choose one if your company’s Slack has several (Enterprise Grid).
  • Slack Conversation: read and post in a single channel, direct message or group.
  • Slack Thread: read a single thread and reply in it.

To change what it sees, see Disconnect an account.

The agent writes as you: your colleagues see the message with your name. Each time, it asks for your approval and shows you the exact text before sending. It can:

  • post a message or reply in a thread;
  • send a direct message to up to 8 people (only with Slack Workspace);
  • edit messages you wrote;
  • add or remove your reactions.

Once applied, you can undo it from the approval: the message is deleted, the edit goes back or the reaction is removed. If you trust some of these, turn on Always approve for that kind of action (for example, Send Slack messages) and the agent stops asking for those.

If you connected Slack before the agent could post, it keeps reading, but it can’t post until you allow the new permissions once. Go to Customize → Connectors: on Yours, Slack shows a warning under Status. Click Reconnect and allow the permissions on Slack’s screen.

The agent can tell you what you have unread in direct messages, groups and channels, and which messages in a conversation you haven’t read yet. Reading them through the agent doesn’t mark them as read in Slack. In a big workspace, going through every channel takes a few minutes.
