Usage and credits

Each person has a plan (Standard or Premium) with usage included every month, which resets on the 1st at 00:00 UTC. Usage is what’s spent past that: the organization’s credits (1 credit = 1 US dollar). How much of their plan each person uses is in Analytics.

  • Credits spent: the credits people used this month past their plan, with a bar against the monthly limit (or, with no limit, against what there was this month).
  • Monthly spend limit: the most the whole organization can use in a month. Adjust limit changes it; Set to unlimited removes it. It caps every person’s limit: raising someone’s limit doesn’t raise this one.
  • Current balance: the organization’s credits. They don’t reset each month. Buy usage credits pays for them by card and adds them to the balance (or Add credits, if billing isn’t connected yet: they’re added at no charge).
  • Auto-reload: next to the balance. See below.
  • Turn on usage credits: off, nobody uses credits even with a limit; everyone stays on their plan.
  • Usage credit requests: on, whoever reaches their limit sees a button to ask for more.

The default monthly limit for each plan, in credits: one for Standard and one for Premium. The pencil sets a number or Set to unlimited (up to the organization’s balance). Manage goes to Members, where each person’s plan is chosen.

The table shows each person with their limit (their plan’s or their own), what was added this month and what they spent. In each row’s menu:

  • Edit limit: an own limit, which replaces their plan’s (higher or lower), or Set to unlimited.
  • Use the plan’s limit: removes the own limit.
  • Add credits for this month: credits from the balance, on top of their limit, for this month only.

Whoever asked for more is marked Requested more, and the pending requests button shows only them. The table shows 25 people per page and has a search by name or email.

At the top, Review requests opens the list: each request with the person’s plan, how much they used and their note. For each one: Increase limit (credits for this month), Move to Premium or Discard. The person gets a notice with what you decided. Move to Premium changes the person’s plan, as in Members.

Next to the balance, Auto-reload opens its settings: when the balance falls below the When balance falls below number, credits are bought to bring it up to Reload to, at most once an hour and up to the Monthly reload limit (empty: the organization’s monthly limit). The balance is checked every 5 minutes, and Owners get a notice with each reload (by email, or by Slack if it’s connected).

Each reload is charged to the card saved in Billing. To turn it on, the screen asks for the authorization (“I authorize Nouter to charge the card on file each time the balance falls below the threshold…”). If the bank asks to confirm a reload, Your bank needs you to confirm the last reload shows up, with Confirm payment. If a charge fails, auto-reload turns off and the screen says so.

In a workspace that doesn’t have billing connected yet, reloads are added to the balance at no charge.
