Asking to join the workspace
People from your domain join on their own
Section titled “People from your domain join on their own”It works as always: anyone with an email from the workspace’s domains joins when they sign in.
Make a domain not discoverable
Section titled “Make a domain not discoverable”Each domain in the Domains block has a Discoverable switch, on by default. If you turn it off, people with an email from that domain no longer get into the workspace on their own, nor can they ask to join: they only get in with the invite link or with an invitation. Turning it off doesn’t remove anyone who is already a member.
People from your domain ask for access
Section titled “People from your domain ask for access”If you turn on Approve new members from these domains, a new person from your domain who signs in doesn’t get in: they see that their request is pending, and it shows up for you in Notifications → Requests as Join requested.
- Review takes you to Members → Pending, where you approve or dismiss it.
- Approve invites them: it takes a seat and, the next time they sign in, they get in. If there are no seats left, add them in Billing.
- Dismiss closes the request. If they sign in again, it shows up again.
People who were already members, admins and invited people get in as always. When you approve someone, they get the invitation email and get in the next time they sign in. If you dismiss them, they get an email telling them their request wasn’t approved.
Someone with an email from another domain, or from a domain that isn’t discoverable, can’t ask to join: invite them from Members. Someone from a domain that isn’t discoverable can also join with the invite link.
If you turn off Discoverable while a request is pending, the request stays and you can still approve it, but meanwhile that person sees that their account doesn’t belong to the workspace.
